MADE IN KALAMATA

“Trofopoleion51” is the continuation of the olive oil, table olive, and fatty substances store owned by the Koutelas family, which has been active in the olive oil sector since the 1970s. In 1998, the management of the store was taken over by Georgios Koutelas, who had founded his own olive oil, table olive, and fatty substances trading company in 1994. In 2007, Georgios Koutelas became a member of the founding olive oil tasting team at the Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Kalamata, now the University of the Peloponnese. In 2012, the store underwent a major renovation, and “Trofopoleion51” was established in the front hall of the building, a grocery store specializing in extra virgin olive oil. In 2017, the back hall was opened to accommodate the expanding activities of “Trofopoleion51,” which include olive oil tasting, table olive tasting, and consulting for olive oil trading and packaging units, as well as educating consumers on the taste and aromatic characteristics of olive oil. The first private olive oil tasting room in Kalamata for the consumer public is now a reality!
