CALLIOPE MOSAICS

CALLIOPE MOSAICS

MADE IN KALAMATA

Kalliopi Kalaitzidou was born in 1990 in Thessaloniki and graduated from the Mathematics Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). From her teenage years, she has been involved in crafts and visual arts, which have become her professional focus. Self-taught in modern mosaic art, she began showcasing her work as Calliope Mosaics in 2012. Since then, she has created works for private and public spaces while also sharing her knowledge of mosaic art by teaching classes and conducting workshops.
With a deep belief that art, creativity, and dreams support and heal individuals and communities, she has organized and executed three community projects:
– “The Magic Carpet” with refugees and migrants from around the world at the Municipal Theater of Mytilene in 2017.
– “The Tree of Life in Four Seasons” with hospitalized children, their parents, and hospital staff at the school of Gennimatas Hospital in Thessaloniki in 2019.
– The project of creating outdoor decorative mosaics with people from different European countries at the Prosiliakos Circle estate in Messenian Mani in 2021.
Her art is characterized by vibrant colors, an emphasis on lines and shapes, archetypal and traditional motifs, and forms in a continuous process of shaping a personal language aimed at communicating with the world through her most sincere part, her heart.
