MADE IN ATHENS

Alexia Kokkinou specializes in both artistic and mechanical bookbinding. With studies in Design, Interior Architecture and Decoration, as well as Graphic Arts Technology and Fine Arts Studies, she has learned all printing methods, including lithography and artistic screen printing techniques. From 1993 for three years, she apprenticed alongside the bookbinder artist Georgios Foskolos, who imparted to her his knowledge of bookbinding, book preservation and restoration, as well as the art of gilding and decorating bookbindings. In 1996, after forty-five years of operation of his bookbinding workshop, Georgios Foskolos handed it over to her as his successor.
Alexia Kokkinou has participated in seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and competitions and has been awarded at the Biennale of Artistic Bookbinding in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse. Additionally, she teaches bookbinding classes.
