MADE IN KALAMATA

The Agricultural Olive Oil Cooperative of Kalamata was founded in 1963. It is located in the Eastern District of Kalamata in the Giannitsanika area. Its main activity has been the production of olive oil (olive processing) for many decades. It also deals with the promotion of oranges (juicing), soaps with organic oil, and aromatic plants from Taygetos.
The cooperative has advanced in modernizing its facilities with two-phase machinery where all waste is reused for the benefit of the environment. Electricity production is achieved through photovoltaic systems that enhance the business’s self-sufficiency for self-consumption and energy net metering.
The Agricultural Olive Oil Cooperative of Kalamata is also the first cooperative to receive the visitable olive mill label from the Ministry of Tourism. Tours are conducted both on the farm and within its facilities. Currently, the historical museum of olives and olive oil is being formed, featuring machinery and objects from the “old days.”
